To promote the integration of the financial system of Taiwan with other countries in the world, the SFI has invited officials from the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) to attend seminars in Taiwan and share their insights on international financial issues since 2013. These seminars have focused on issues such as how supervisory authorities may protect market participants and prevent illegal trading in an internationalized financial system while establishing an effective supervisory management system to build a safer and more transparent trading environment for financial derivatives. The seminar has had 7 sessions up to date. Competent authority and futures enterprises have put great emphasis on it and have proactively participated over the past years.
In 2021, the CFTC instructors were unable to come to Taiwan due to the border control as a result of the pandemic. In response, the Taiwan Futures Exchange and SFI coordinated with the CFTC to hold seminars online via online conference. To solve the time difference issue, CFTC officials were asked to travel to San Francisco for the online seminars. Participants included competent authorities of Taiwan and related organizations, executives and participants from the securities, futures, investment, trust, and consultation services industries; furthermore, financial professionals from Malaysia were also invited, accumulating a total of 103 participants.
